East Europe Online Gambling News

There had been news coming from the East European region stating that smaller countries have been
keen in going their separate ways when it comes to online gambling. BudapestBusiness Journal has
stated that the government has declared to impose higher taxes on online gambling sites in the country.
This will take effect from 2012 since the announcement to higher taxes was already brought to the
parliament by the National Economic Minister, Gyargy Matolcsy. The Minister did not talk about how
much the increase would be but he did state that it would cause some technical difficulties due to
the increase. He did say that generally they will be imposing higher taxes which will take effect on
November of 2011.

In Ukraine, news broke out which gives a positive feel to the gambling industry. This is because in 2009,
a ban on all gambling activities was imposed however, a parliament member, OlegTsarev recently
introduced a new bill to the parliament that states to allow gambling to take place in this Eastern
European country. Bill No. 9098 proposes legalization of all forms of gambling in the country which is
favoured by most of it citizens since it will add up to their means of recreation. However, this good news
is only to be celebrated by the land casino gambling since they are the only ones specified to operate
casino and other gambling activities in Ukraine.
